The Sunday Show

In Philipp’s first year at Royal Holloway, he applied to be a presenter on the student and community radio station Insanity Radio 103.2 FM. Much to his surprise (and to the surprise of his family and friends), he managed to land a presenting role! By chance Philipp was given a Sunday slot, thus he decided to name his programme “The Sunday Show” because... yeah.

Hosting The Sunday Show for 3 years at university helped shape the more surreal and wacky aspects seen in his comedy today. The hour-long show consisted of 3 parts: quick jokes, longer-form sketches, and the “Pun of the week”. Philipp wrote and edited the show and voiced most of the characters

The Sunday Show won the Insanity Radio 2017/18 Best Topical Chat Show award and Philipp as its host received the 2017/18 Insanity Radio Best Male presenter award. On a national level, Philipp was shortlisted as one of the top 6 male presenters at the Student Radio Awards in 2017. and won the Silver 2017 Kevin Greening Award for creativity. Many of the judges praised Philipp’s comedic prowess, the show’s high production value, and the quality of Philipp’s presenting style. In 2018, The Sunday Show was nominated for Best Speech Programme at the Student Radio Awards supported by BBC 1 and Global.

As part of Philipp’s time on Insanity Radio 103.2 FM, Philipp also hosted the Student Radio Chart Show on Insanity Radio 103.2 FM which was syndicated nationwide across the UK. This show was also nominated for a Student Radio Award in 2018.

The Sunday Show concluded on the 3rd of June 2018 after 3 seasons and 53 episodes. Philipp continued his work in radio by volunteering as a traffic and travel presenter on Radio Jackie 107.8 FM. Philipp currently co-writes and co-presents an audio sketch show with Laurence Smither titled, The Larry and Phil Sketch Show.
